excited!

In less than two weeks I will be DC bound for CPAC! (Conservative Political Action Conference)

And tonight, my roomie and I registered for a luncheon with Conservative Woman of the Year MICHELLE DUGGAR!

She's the mom from 19 Kids and Counting on TLC! I'm sure it will be a really interesting event. The luncheon is for college females that are registered for CPAC, so whatever she has to say should be tailored for me and my people!

So exciting.

TLC is also part of our trip in another way. And it's because of this place....

GEORGETOWN CUPCAKE!

They make cupcakes with cute little GOP elephants on them in November for elections, but we're gonna call and see if we can try and pre-order some pretty pachyderm pastries. :)

AND! We're going on a White House Tour! Although I have zero interest in its currant occupant, it will be amazing to see a few bits of the inside!

Of course we'll be doing lots more and hearing a bunch of different speakers and seeing lots of interesting stuff.

Can't wait!

GREEN with Envy!

Lately, much of my affection have been devoted to all things green, more specifically emerald green.

At night I dream of my own Emerald City, a house with emerald green walls, an emerald green wedding (and ring to match), emerald shoes, emerald bag, emerald scarf, and anything else emerald.

At this year's Golden Globes, I was not the only one seeing green, Mila Kunis wore this amazing Vera Wang dress that was my absolute fave!

Other celebs like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie, and Elisabeth Moss donned similar hues of green.

But like I said before, my newfound appreciated for green does not start nor does it end with glam gowns.

Tiffany's makes a glitzy green ring, that makes me seriously cringe at the thought of its retail price.

And of course, one of the best dressed celebrities (in my opinion) Jessica Simpson has a couple of glorious green bags that I just adore!

Of course they are both expensive, designer, and wayyyy out of my budget. But, a little envy never hurt anyone.

In a world of bland beige cookie cutter houses, I find myself wanting a bolder and more colorful pallet to surround myself with, and that's where rooms like these come into play...

Anyone that has seen Confessions of a Shopaholic knows of Rebecca Bloomwood's most prized possession, her green scarf. (More than likely made in Finland.) Its hard not to watch and want a green scarf of your own. (Thankfully I have a green scarf of my own now)

So....GO GREEN! In the most fashionable way possible!

Paging Dr. Patel?

For the past 3 weeks, any spare moment that my roomie and I share, we spend it watching Grey's Anatomy.

We just finished season 5 last night, and started season 6 a couple hours ago. We were talking about the cast, and how diverse it is, when I thought, where is the Indian doctor?

According to Wikipedia there are over 35,000 Indian doctors in the United States. Sure, there are a lot of other doctors that represent a lot of other ethnic groups, but 64% of Indian Americans have a Bachelor's degree (compared to national average of only 28%) and 40% of all Indian Americas have a Master's, Doctorate, or other professional degree! (Compared to the 5% national average!)

So why Shonda Rhimes, why is there not an Indian doctor on Grey's or Private Practice for that matter.

If America believes that total knock outs like Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey), Sandra Oh (Dr. Christina Yang), Chyler Leigh (Dr. Lexie Grey), and Sara Ramirez (Dr. Callie Torres) chose to be a doctor rather than marry one, I think its beyond realistic to see at least one Indian doctor.

And not all of my beloved medical dramas have chosen to ignore such a significant ethnic group.

Flastback to 2003, or 1994 if we really want to go back to the beginning of it all, to television's ER. It ran for 15 seasons, and over that time the cast has some variety. One of my favorites on the show (I use to sit at the top of the steps while my mom watched back in the 90s, and I caught a few episodes on my own once my tv viewing developed out of the cartoon era) was Dr. Neela Rasgotra, portrayed by Parminder Nagra. Totally beautiful, and Indian.

So can we count on a little curry flavor to spice up medical dramas this season!? I sure hope so!

Glitter Gal

Being a girly girl it is only natural to love all things pink, actually, I'm quite sure its somewhere in the definition of girly girl. Years ago, I learned I was more than just a girly girl, but a glitter gal. I don't actually remember the story of how I was dubbed a glitter gal, but it makes perfect sense. For those of you that were wondering what a glitter gal is, here's my definition.Glitter Gal - n. - Lover of all things luxe, sparkly, and exaggerated. The bigger the better for a glitter gal - especially when it comes to closet space. Things that may seem tacky or gaudy to others, are seen as beautiful and unique to a glitter gal. Naturally this includes all things sparkly, shimmery, and well, glittery.

Basically, a girly girl gone glam.

Still confused on what the difference really is? The ladies of Sex and the City know exactly what I'm talking about...

Charlotte York
Pink, Preppy, Put Together, Perfect.
Girly Girl.
(side note: I would give my first born for her pink bag)

Carrie Bradshaw:

Glitzy, daring, and most importantly SPARKLY.
The most iconic glitter gal.

Now being a glitter gal, or a girly girl is not a phase. Its a lifestyle. Typically one you've been living as long as you can remember. Even our fictitious fashionistas stay true to their roots.

Now, please note that these are exaggerated examples, simply used as a teaching tool. By now you have probably identified either yourself or one of your girlfriends as either glitter gal or girly girl, and chances are she usually doesn't walk around northern Ohio with a giant hibiscus on her shoulder, but something like that :)

Looking back on my life, its clear I have ALWAYS been a glitter gal, especially with pictures like this one:

Now that we have all that figured out, here's a few sparkly things that I l-o-v-e!

With the new Burlesque movie out, OPI have some fabulous and fun colors out. I literally went out to Ulta (God's gift to women, right after Matthew McConaughey) just to buy this color called "Bring on the Bling". And as you can see, it really lives up to its name.

Long, lush, and now luxe. Covergirl's Lash Blast Luxe is just as wonderful as traditional Lash Blast, but this one has a little bit of shimmer to it!
SANDING SUGAR! I Loooooove to bake! And sanding sugars make everything look like a million bucks! I made the most beautiful strawberry cupcakes with lemon cream cheese frosting dusted with sanding sugar for my roommate's birthday, but I did not take a picture! GRRR! But I could have seriously kicked some cupcake war butt with em'...but you'll just have to believe me.

Well this glitter gal is ready to see the insides of her sparkly eyelids, and get some sleep (its almost 5 am. yikes!)

My Little Obsession

When I was little, my mom would always throw me and my brother the BEST themed parties. I mean AWESOME! Kids I weren't really friends with, would befriend me around holidays, just to come to my amazing themed parties. Well now that I'm a (young) adult, I'm officially obsessed with amazing parties now. Maybe my mother is the one responsible for me never getting into keggers or similar "boats and hoes" college parties that were not properly outfitted with nautical flags. Either way, I found a blog that I could (and have) spent hours staring at making magnificent party plans in my head. That blog is hostessblog.com by Hostess with the Mostess.

I L-O-V-E love this website! I actually have a file on my computer just filled with images from this site. I can't wait for my friend to start getting married and having babies, because I have already declared that I'm the girl that is dying to throw them a chic soiree.

So here are some of my favorites:
